I think there are a lot of websites that get overlooked as one of our categories. There are just too many different subjects out there and you could find a website on any topic you can think of. This makes it very hard to talk about them all. Today I am going to talk about veterinarian web design, animal hospital web design and anything that has to do with servicing animals in some way. This includes grooming web design and obedience school web design. After checking out a bunch of these websites I noticed that most if not all of them were very boring, unprofessional or just didn’t really have any helpful information or advice. I saw a bunch of “never ending scrolls” as I like to call them, which are just one page websites that you keep scrolling and scrolling down. I hate those. If your going to make a website, you should do it right and don’t be cheap. Just
because you have a website doesn’t mean it’s going to help you. In the “never ending scroll” case, it will most likely hurt you.
Something people have to realize about pet services web design is that people absolutely love their pets. They see them as family and want them to be treated well. That means, when they are looking online for a veterinarian or a groomer, the never ending scrolling pages get passed up in a second. Your web design don’t appear to be professional and customers are going to be weary of you because of that. Those sparkly letters flashing throughout the page, pictures placed haphazardly throughout the one page, all of which are pictures of your dog. Oh isn’t he cute? No. I don’t want to see your dog that much. I want to see results! Other people’s dogs, after you’ve gotten a hold of them. Where are they? Are there any? Did any make it out alive? I don’t know because you won’t show me. All I get to see is Fluffy playing with his ball and posing for the camera.
I’ve said so many times that information is key. Most of these one pagers don’t have a lot of it. Fluffy’s Grooming Barn! Come visit us at so and so. Here’s a bunch of pictures of Fluffy. Thanks for visiting! Not good. I’ll go into what information should be included in a pet services website in another blog.
Another thing that is bad about the scrolling pages is that no one wants to scroll all the way down your page. It takes way too long to scroll to the bottom of your sparkly picture-littered page to find out how to contact you or where your located. In fact, I tried to scroll down a whole page once and my finger fell off. It’s so hard to try and find one little piece of information in that one huge page that I’d rather not try. I’d rather go to a page where, at the click of a button, I can see whatever it is I want to know. This is your competitor’s page! Isn’t it terrible to think that when people come to your animal related website that they are immediately disgusted and go to your competitor’s page? That after seeing your page they think every other one is a masterpiece? I implore you to make your website more than one page.
Take my advice, I’m not the only one who thinks like this about these types of websites. Want to learn more about other types of web design? Visit us at DreamCo Design – Web Design.
