Standard

Let’s say you are a up and coming internet business and you want to make sure your company gets the most exposure it can on the internet. There are a few ways of doing this. Paying Google, Yahoo, or others to put you in the sponsored sections so you show up at the top of the search list, or SEO.

For those of us who are not tech savvy, and up to date on all the latest web lingo SEO stands for “search engine optimization”. SEO is the process of getting your website to show up as more important on the search engine, meaning higher in the rankings.

Hopefully you can be within the top three, but even being on the first few pages is great in most industries. Now there are a handful of items involved in taking this epic climb. One is to fill up your website with key terms that people will search for, long as they are relevant to the subject. A good way to do this is to have a blog that you can put articles on that discusses those key terms. And yet another way is to link exchange.

Link exchanging means just what it sounds like. Exchanging links with another website. There are a few types of link exchanges, one way, two way, three way, paid links and so on. But the most popular type is a two way exchange. How does this work with SEO? Well one way the search engines work is by seeing how many sites link back to your site. The more sites that link back to you the more important the search engine thinks you are and the better spot you will get when the results come up. This is a pretty big business. Companies pay people millions of dollars every year to do just SEO.

So how would link exchanging be considered spamming? We are not really sure. In fact, we are confident to say that it is not. DreamCo Design stays up to date with the latest in internet laws and the functioning of SEO but you would be surprised how many foolish people are out there and would claim it is; some of which have even wrote books on the subject!

Maybe it would be if you were trying to sell something or were doing some type of off subject solicitation. But if you look at two way link exchanging it helps out both websites that deicede to do it. The more related the subject of the link exchange, the more logical sense and better placement it typically leads to as well.

Go ahead and check out some of those affiliate pages on your favorite websites. Almost every website has some sort of link to another site or their link on another site.

But how do you find these companies to do the link exchange with? There are a handful of ways to do this and essentially this is a core element of entrepreneurship and young businesses growing. A business owner should think through who is related to them and how it could easily help both parties.

The owner could then put together a plan and search for any particular company until they feel they find one that the idea may work well with, and then simply send a proposal directed to them. To do this one would go on to a search engine and you search on the type of company you think would be a good match for link exchanging.

This is NOT so called search engine spamming, like some folks think. This is trying to grow your business correctly by partnering up with other companies on the internet. By doing this you will be able to assist in your ranking on the internet search engines and expand your business network.

DreamCo Design do not condone spamming in any form but we certainly condone educating our clients and the general public on what exactly link exchanging is and helping get the most out of your business.
