I was just working on a jewelry web design project yesterday. Writing out content for a jewelry website. As I was writing, I realized that I didn’t know anything about jewelry. How to pick something out, how many different cuts there are, the different stones, how to differentiate a good stone from a bad one, and how to care for and clean jewelry. It’s amazing all the information there is to know about the subject. Since I had to write all about jewelry and how to choose it and all that good stuff I mentioned before; I’m confident that I’m going to be very knowledgeable when it is time for me to go pick a piece out for myself. Happy that I wrote it and happy that I read it. That’s how customers are going to feel when the read the same information on your jewelry website. The content of your jewelry website is still a big part of jewelry web design.
I would highly recommend that you put some pages up of information about all the subjects that I mentioned above. I would also suggest that you go into great detail about each topic. This is not only beneficial to the customer, who now knows exactly what they are looking for and how much they are willing to spend. But to you as well, who doesn’t have to explain each and every little detail to someone who has no clue. Whether they are coming into the store or ordering online is no difference.
It’s a shame that most jewelry websites don’t have any information about the jewelry they are selling. People go on or come in and see something pretty but are reserved about buying it because they don’t know anything about, let’s say, those little numbers and symbols engraved on the jewelry. Or they don’t know if your charging them too much based on the actual value of the piece or stone. People who are informed can make informed d
ecisions. For example, if I were to walk into a jewelry store before reading on your website all the things I needed to know, I might not buy that gemstone I was looking at because it has a tiny flaw in it. If I were informed I would realized that the tiny flaw that turned me off probably makes the gemstone even more valuable! Simple little mistake, but a lost sale nonetheless.
With all this in mind I’m sure most of you reading will be well on your way to writing up some informative content about all the little things there are to know about jewelry. Boosting those sales and in turn bringing in more customer. No, no… don’t thank me. I do it for you. For more information on jewelry web design check us out at DreamCo Design – Jewelry Web Design.
