Music Web Design: Exposing Yourself to The World

Standard

The most interesting and amazing things can happen when you pursue music web design. Name one thing you can do to make your talents available to the entire world besides a music website. You really can’t can you? The only thing next to a music website is to broadcast yourself at the Super Bowl, but that will cost you a lot more then music web design. The major issue about music web design is getting the people to go to your music website.

One of the things you can do is to make flyers to hand out at any shows that are around your area. You know those guys and gals that sit outside of the concert and hand you the piece of paper that you just toss into the nearest trash can, or you toss on the ground. That could be you! Actually it is not that bad of an idea. I personally read those things before I toss them. If it catches my eye or has some information about a band I like, then I tend to keep it. Make sure your flyer has a pretty cool design and not just one of those crappy Xerox copies. Sure those look totally punk rock and that is how your vegan girl friend with 700 cats prints her feminist zine. But it does not look professional. If I was handed a post card like flyer with a really cool design and a nice glossy look I might be more inclined to actually read and care about it. DreamCo Design offers great printing as well as great music web design. You really get the full package with us.

The other thing you can do to pimp your music website is to make some friends with all the bands you can. You never know what band is going to make it big and might ask you to open for them. That is the way I find bands. Either my buddies tell me to check someone out or I catch them as an opening act. You can tell a lot about a band by the way they sounded live, especially not being a big name band with all the fancy equipment. I remember one of the times I went to see The Get Up Kids at the Metro on the north side of Chicago. A guy I had never heard of opened up for them. His name was Rocky Votolato. It was just him and his guitar in front of a few hundred people. He blew everyone away, including me. That night I went to the merch booth and bought two of his CDs. The next afternoon I went to check out his music website. I was not even going to go to see the opening bands, but I am sure glad I did. Rocky Votolato’s music has really had a great effect on my life. It helps that the guy is super talented too. I am sure that night old Rocky made quite a few fans. So just keep that in mind while you are opening up for a bigger band. You never know what fans you might pick up along the way.
